Here Comes the Soma
Shit's getting weirder on the daily in our latter day "World State"
Fun thing about the Trump regime:
Regardless of the whimsical, demented, wild-hair announcement or policy, whatever the regime says is the purpose, is like as true as not the case. It’s like a game of whack-a-mole where you KNOW the mole will pop up from one of 12 holes, only to have the little fella ride by on a unicycle.
Over the weekend, the loon-in-chief and a clown car of random champions announced the regime would speed up reviews of certain psychedelic drugs and ease restrictions/spur research on using the drugs for medical purposes, including conditions like severe depression.
Many of these substances are currently banned under the federal government’s most restrictive category for illegal, high-risk drugs. Trump is quoted as saying his EO “will ensure that people suffering from debilitating symptoms might finally have a chance to reclaim their lives and lead a happier life.”
Can’t object to any of that.
UH, well...
Psychedelic stocks surged after the announcement that the regime would speed up how quickly psychedelic drugs for mental illness can move through the regulatory process (given the regime’s pattern of announcing shit and insider-trading the hell out of it, ala Iran, this is no surprise):
· Compass Pathways (CMPS) shares closed 42.3% higher;
· AtaiBeckley (ATAI) gained 22.2%;
· GH Research (GHRS) rose 16.9%;
· Definium Therapeutics (DFTX) added 2.4%.
Go figure.
It is tragic that we can no longer imagine that a President’s initiative might actually be sincere, including in terms of the purported goal of alleviating the challenges of veterans suffering a range of psychological maladies.
But seriously, c’mon, Trump does squat if it doesn’t benefit him personally, financially.
Nevertheless…
…Given the surreality of our existence under this mad regime, I imagine the tech bros bankrolling JD Eyeliner may have had a say in this particular initiative; They seem to place little-to-ZERO value on the hoi polloi, at least not as anything other than stoned meat-puppets for work and sex.
How to get them to tune out…?
Leave 1984 behind and remember Huxley’s 1932 dystopian sci-fi novel Brave New World, which imagined an “opiate of the masses” known as “Soma” that replaced religion and alcohol (and reality in general) in a peaceful, but amoral, high-tech society far in the future.
Huxley’s dystopian “World State” revolved around science and so-called “efficiency;” Society, emotions and individuality were conditioned out of children at a young age, because “every one belongs to every one else”
In the book, Soma, a narcotic tranquilizer in tablet or vapor form, was regularly taken by all members of society in order to produce feelings of euphoric happiness (notably, Soma was harmful, even deadly, when taken in wrong doses).
Needless to say, NONE of this would EVER have been processed by the rotted brain-nugget bouncing around between the rabid squirrels savaging Trump’s misshapen skull, but it’s right up the tech bros’ comic-strip alley.
Weird times we live in.
